Files & artwork

Files & Artwork

What file formats do you accept?
We accept AI (Adobe Illustrator), DWG (AutoCAD), EPS, PDF and ZIP archives. All files must be at 1:1 scale in millimetres. Vector format is required for 2D cutting. If your files are in a different format, contact us before submitting — we can often advise on conversion.
What scale should my drawings be?
All drawings must be at 1:1 scale in millimetres. We cannot accept files in other scales or units — the machine reads the file directly, so incorrect scale means incorrect output. Double-check your document units before sending.
Can you work from a sketch or PDF drawing?
We can work from a PDF if it's a properly scaled vector PDF. Raster images, photos of sketches and low-resolution scans aren't suitable for direct machining. If you need help converting your artwork, contact us — we can advise or quote for a redraw.
Do you accept DXF files?
DXF can be handled in most cases — contact us before submitting to confirm. Our preferred formats are AI, DWG and EPS as these give us the cleanest vector data to work with.
Materials

Materials

What materials can you cut?
We regularly cut MDF, plywood, hardwood, aluminium, acrylic, high-density foam, Dibond, Forex, HDPE, Nylon, Delrin and PETG. We cut up to 70mm depth in a single pass. For thicker work, we can develop a cutting and layering plan — material dependent.
What is the maximum cutting depth?
Our Pegasus 1530 ATC cuts to 70mm depth in a single pass. For projects requiring greater material thickness, we can develop a cutting and layering plan — where multiple CNC cut layers are assembled to achieve the final thickness. Feasibility depends on the material and design.
Can you cut aluminium?
Yes. We mill aluminium sheet and plate using our 9kW HSD spindle. Suitable for 6082 and 5083 alloy grades. Contact us with your spec for a quote.
Can you source material or do I supply it?
Both options are available. We stock common sheet materials including MDF and plywood and can include material cost in your quote. For specialist materials, you may prefer to supply your own — contact us to discuss.
Turnaround & pricing

Turnaround & Pricing

How long does CNC machining take?
Turnaround depends on the complexity and volume of the job. Most standard jobs are completed within a few days. We'll confirm an exact lead time when we quote. If you have a tight deadline, tell us upfront and we'll do our best to accommodate it.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum order. We cut single prototype parts as readily as production runs of hundreds. Pricing is based on machine time and material — not order volume.
How do I get a quote?
Submit your file and job details via the quote form on our website. Include material, quantity, thickness and any deadline. We confirm cost within 24 hours on standard jobs. For urgent quotes, call us directly on 020 8558 8110.
Do you offer trade rates?
Yes. We work with fabricators, workshops and makers on a trade basis. If you're likely to be a regular customer, get in touch and we'll discuss account terms.
Process & capability

Process & Capability

What machine do you use?
We run a Pegasus 1530 ATC CNC router — a professional-grade machine with a 1500×3000mm bed, 9kW Italian HSD spindle, Japanese Yaskawa servo motors and a 12-tool automatic tool changer. Built for demanding commercial work.
CNC routing vs laser cutting — what's the difference?
CNC routing uses a spinning cutter and excels with thicker materials, structural parts and 3D relief work. Materials like aluminium and hardwood that don't respond well to heat are better routed or milled. Laser cutting uses a focused beam and is better suited to very thin, delicate sheet work with fine detail. We offer CNC routing and milling — contact us if you're unsure which process suits your job.
Can you cut parts thicker than 70mm?
Our machine cuts to 70mm in a single pass. For projects requiring greater thickness, we develop a cutting and layering plan — multiple layers are CNC cut and assembled to achieve the required dimension. Feasibility depends on the material and design — contact us to discuss your project.
Where are you based and do you deliver?
We're based at 22 Rigg Approach, London, E10 7QN, operated by Rule One Productions. Finished parts can be collected from the workshop or we can arrange courier delivery. Contact us for delivery options.
